How a Simple Text Scam Almost Fooled Me

In today digital world, scams and data manipulation are more common. One example that I personally experienced was a fake delivery text message scam, which is a type of attack that was designed to steal personal information.

The purpose of this scam was to trick me into clicking the link and entering sensitive information such as my address, credit card number, or login details. The message claimed that a package could not be delivered and that I needed to click a link to reschedule delivery. Since I occasionally order item online for my parents or myself, the message seemed believable at first glance.

The scam worked by creating a sense of urgency and trust. The text looked like it came from a real delivery company, using professional language and even including a fake tracking number. When I clicked the link, it took me to a website that looked very similar to a legitimate shipping company’s page. It asked me to confirm my personal information and pay a small “redelivery fee.” This is where the scammer intended to collect my data and possibly steal money.

I realize it was fake because the link didn’t match a real company website, and I wasn’t expecting any packages at the time. These small details made it clear something was off.

To avoid scams like this, Its’s important to double check the sender, avoid clicking unknown links, and go directly to official websites instead. Being cautious and taking a moment to think can help prevent falling for scams.
